Cricket:  let’s think about this:

Pass me that plank - said William to Wayne.

Go stand 22 yards in that direction - said William to Warren.

Find me 6 sticks - of equal length - William told Wally.

David and his19 friends arrived - fresh from shepherding sheep.

David asked William - what have you turned your mind to?

Barry told Gary - this game - came - to William in a dream.

Two teams were decided by height and weight - boys taller than William and heavier than Wayne - got the name - strawberry plan.

As gentlemen they are - a penny was tossed into the air - it came down - Kings head up.

As the dream belonged to William and his best friend Wally - they took up the planks  - and stood in front of three sticks  - of equal length.

Young Tappel - a friend of David - produced his red apple.

Tappel took his apple - and stood  behind Wally.

Tappel hurled his apple  - towards William - where upon William - cried out Wally - and ran towards him.

David’s boys - stood - then ran in all different directions - some towards the apple - as it rose into the air - and others not.

It came time for all to go home - and so they did.

That night - William had the same dream - but this time - he got more instructions - as how to play the game.

He woke in the morning - with a click - in his back - hence his new game - became - cricket….

The next weekend…

Simon yelled to Tim  - who was looking in a different direction - stand over there - silly - and pointed.

William noted in his reference book - silly point.

Over the next coming weeks - lots of other names  - appeared in Williams reference book -

Cover - extra cover - Samuel came up with those two names.

Sam  - always had to be told - what to do - 3 times - he became known - as - third man.

William’s dreams became  more intense  - Jack -  who always stood to the right - of William - when William was batting - always slipped over - so William called him - slipper - but recorded in his reference book - first slip.

Over the coming weeks…

Williams’s dad - gave Williams plank - a handle - from his old spade - see what you can do with that? - I like it said Jack - can I have a bat.

Ted’s  - square leg

John’s  - long on

Fred’s - fine leg

Cow in the corner?

William entered these into his reference book.

He slept well that night..

The rest is history … { vissa }
