Part one:  My Friday.

My Friday stated as did my Thursday - awake in my own bed.  Although what I did differently this morning - learnt from Thursday - was to take note that all was not working correctly within my body.  Yet like the Thursday - rose from my bed and carried out my bathroom duiies - followed by breakfast.

It was there when my Friday changed from my Thursday.

The uncomfortableness within my againg carcass over came my wish to do nothing.

Like a shy schoolboy eager to report a disturbance - to the headmaster - questioned the outcome of that call.

My nevious hand reached for the phone my nevious forefinger struck against the appropriate numbers.    It was exactly at this point - when a voice asked of my enquiry and to whom I wish to speak too?

I was struck dumb…

The questions came towards me from this person quicker than my brain could provide the answers.

Part two: My ambulance .

However: 45 minutes later - I had two young ladies - within my domain:  5 minutes later - I was naked with hundreds cables attaching to a red box on the floor.

Her hands were warm. Her smile was bright and pleasant. Her voice controlled all my following procedures.

I have never felt as important than I feel at this moment.  In my own ambulance ( 55 years between trips ) - driven by Amandra -  strapped onto a bed - next to Annabelle - checking again - my full name - my date of birth.

This answer to this question becomes the only information I can and need to remember ….

Part three: E R Department

From this point on - once I arrived at the ER department - I became a different person.

Having convinced the (keeper of the key my entry ) that I was the same person whom got in the ambulance and whom had now got out of the ambulance - was that same person.

It was at this time and at this point of place - once moved from my ambulance bed to a waiting room chair - my condition was not of a high  priority to anyone but to me.

I was now feeling like a fraud - having put all these people to this extra work load.   Taking my blood pressure again.   Taking my temperature again.

Plus:  now sticking neadles in to my arm and rubbing my blood.   Not only did they want my blood pressure numbers - they wanted my temperature numbers - they wanted me to pee into a bottle.

An hour had passed since my arrival and that fact recorded - on every iPad / tablet ( whatever) and even on hard copy.

Within the following hour: to break my boredom - a young girl appeared asking me follow her to the X ray department.  Stand in this direction - she instructed    Stand in this direction - she instructed.

To my chair in the waiting room I returned.  It was now i txted my personal support team leader….

Part four: My support team.

Known as my family - each and anyone loved in equal measure ( treasured by their stupid father + )

I txt the ringleader - with the request to collect and return him to his sanctuary .    Without a question about my name and age - I am collected.

Part five: That dreaded phone call.

That phone call arrived as I lay upon my sofa - not sure if I was better or worse than Friday - it was this phone call that settled the argument ( I was having with myself) apparently I was not better - because a nasty little bug was squatting within my chest - feeding off my blood ( basted )

Part six: (repeat four) My support team

Part seven: The same patient but on a different day.

Today I thought I had one over everyone else -  I knew my name and date of birth off hand.

(My support team went beyond the call of duty )

Part eight: From freedom to prison.

The time that one’s freedom disappears is important - and on many occasions never recorded - this possibility one of those times.

So for this story - it will be recorded as 5.30 pm.

My freedom was dashed once  dinner arrived and eaten - immediately as prisoned with no escape - ascended to the floor above.

My mind and body unaccustomed to the situation before me wished together could descend to the floor below.

Yet it was not to be - enclosed within my wheeled chariot - then enclosed in the area which was to be my bedroom  - with no escape - I lay.

Which seamed like 40 days and 40 nights -  I was enclosed -  enclosed in unfamiliar surroundings.

Can my story contain further excitement - without food and medicine.      I can assure you it does not.

Night brought no peace.   Night brought sounds so unfamiliar to one - one with so much time on one’s own.   Between the visits to my bedside from the angles of the night - woken to confirm - name and date of birth - satisfied -  blood pressure and temperature stolen  - or were the angles just thieves in the night.

My drug dealer arrived before the brakes of dawn - fulling by sole with the liquid of gold - hoping only my name and date of birth was correctly recorded.

Confined in the depth of Ward 1 / B14 - I lay fed - drugged and slipping slowly into insanity.

Christ.   I hear a door bell ring - ding dong it rang - ding dong it rang - brining an angel of the night

Fuck.      From my fellow prisoner in bed 1 - I hear a fart - a fart - decibels beyond safe healthy hearing.

Shit.       Within seconds - my fellow prisoner in bed 3  - comes a sound like a deep sea sperm whale.

Christ.   Once again - I hear a door bell ring - ding dong it rang - ding dong it rang  - once more bringing with it  - another angel of the night

Bugger.     My fellow prisoner in bed 2 - for the first time of many tonight  - stumbles her way to the bathroom

Laying on my bed - adjusting the positions of my bed with the remote

1 back up

2 back down

3 legs up

4 legs down

5 both legs up and back up

6 back down legs up

7 bed back to level setting

Insanity controls the orchestra as I conduct the movements of my fellow companions

1 firter

2 the night walker

3 the sperm whale

4 the mystery prisoner

Each with the opportunity to ring  the doorbell  - bringing an angel of the night to their bedside.

Part nine: the truth is exposed

My Sunday returns common sense to my world.

Go young man - gather your belongings - free yourself from these premises - knowing that you arrived with circumstances  undiagnosed - spent hours in suspense and frustration  - emotion overtaking common sense.

You were fed both with food and medicine - with kindness and constructive words  - told not to worry - told not to be embarrassed.

You did not die from a heart attack. You do not die from a stroke.

You did not perish from the temperature - within your carcass

Part ten: summary

Friday: I was welcomed at the front door.    Name and date of birth.

Sunday: I was shown out at  a different door.  Just a goodbye and a piece of paper

You were discharged from the hospital  - take this list and get your prescriptions - follow as instructions on the box.

My understanding of what happened

I had a pain across my chest and a little down my right side.

I remember the adds - advising people - if you suffer these pains -  don’t have a shower or go for a walk  - ring an ambulance.

I did on the second day of having these pains - it is no small effort in making that call.

The rest is history ( as people say )

This elderly gentlemen (me) will just record here - that he is very impressed  -  very grateful for all the help and service he received from the ambulance people  - to all the doctors and nurses in the hospital  - and to his family .

PS:

The nasty little squatter - living with me - lied - it gave me this heartache.
