The inverter

'Come to the garage,' J_______ called to A_________ , who was playing with her new Lego set.     'I've got something to show you.’

'Will I get dirty?' asked A________.

'No,' said J_________.     'Good,' said A________ and went on to explain how the dress she is wearing is her favourite at the moment because it came in the mail from L_______ .

'There, look what I've got,' said J_______ , pointing to a object on the wall.

'Is it a heater? asked A_______ , placing her hand on the grill like surface while sort of bouncing on the ball of her feet; which has become a new habit.

'No, it's not a heater,' said J______ ,  placing his hand on the grill like surface while lifting himself by his toes.     'It's called an inverter.’

'What does it do?' asked A______ , although not really interested in the answer, yet unable to stop herself asking.

'It coverts the sun rays into power,' explains J______ .    'See this white plastic pipe;' pointing to the white plastic pipe, running from the ceiling and down the left side of the object; 'well, the power from the sun comes down through that pipe  ... where, once inside gets turned to electricity ... then, that electricity travels up this white plastic pipe;' he pointed to the white plastic pipe, running from the base (on the right side,) 'up to the power box;' he pointed to the metal box (fixed to the wall just above the inverter.)

A______ asked, 'how does the sun get into that small white plastic pipe?' then pulled a face, as she always did ... when not interested an explanation.

'On the roof,' J______ said, pointing to the ceiling.

'Where; I can't see any panels, said A_________.

'On the roof outside,' said J________ .

'Come, I'll show them to you.'  'See up there,' pointing towards six large black panels.

'I can't see anything,' said A_______, without really looking; something she was good at doing.

J______ placed a hand either side of A______'s head ... because see was looking in the opposite direction.         'There they are.'

'So they are,' said A_______ .  How beautiful the sky looks; how blue, how calm, and how deep are the puffy white clouds, she thought to herself.

J_______ began to explain how the heat of the sun warmed the glass, but A________ interrupted by asking, 'are they made of glass?'

'Yes,' said J________ .   'How did they get onto the roof?  A_______, asked.

'Well,' said J_____, and went on to explain ...  'two men brought them on a truck and took them up by a ladder and then,' again A______ interrupted by saying 'would they blow away?'

'No,' said J_____, and went on to explain ... 'the brackets holding the glass panels are attached to the timber under the tiles; can you understand what I telling you?       'Why did you ask me that?  said A_______, pulling one of those — do you think I'm dumb faces.

'I thought you weren't listening? replied J_______ , with a look of disappointment, when one realises the other person is showing little excitement  in something that provides a great deal of excitement to you.
